The Mediterranean climate ensures that the dry summers till have the cool sea breezewarming them up. The heat in the park is not much as there are lot of waterfalls and rivers. The winters are mild and wet and most likely the park is closed during winters.
The Karst Delight
Krka National Park is very famous for the best Croatian karst you would ever have seen. Krast environments occur due to the dissolving action of carbon dioxide and water on carbonated rock. In the Krka national park the rock is limestone. In a span of so many years, this has resulted in a lot of geo morphological process, while the River Krka has flown over these rapids. Karst landscapes feature in most of the subterranean drainages thus making the area to be explored by those interested in caves and pottery. With a great biodiversity here you can find the oak, willow, hornbeam, cypress etc. there are more than 200 species of birds found here.
Besides, the Visovac trout and the Adriatic salmon are found here. Croatia has this unique feature of having a very clean and clear blue sea. The fishing villages on the seashore have their arrivals and departure of the boats which go into the sea.
Established in the year 1945, the Krka national Park runs along the River Krka. It has its source in the Dinaric mountains foothills and passes through the karst landscape and then emptied itself in the Adriatic. Then the river flows through a gorge and then falls in eight sets of rapids. The Skradinski and the Roski falls are found here. Skradinski with a drop of around 46 m over the seventeen steps of limestone are great travel sights here.
So as the River Krka flows through this region and travels a karst zone, enjoy all these karsts, rivers and the pools and the lakes that they create. So travel into this land of adventure travels and excitement and come back with a lot more to take back in your memories.
It is very exciting to see the SKradinski buk or the waterfalls just at the entrance and also equally more interesting here is the small town of Skradin from where you get the ferry boat ride to the park.
