The city is home to a host of attractions, of which the most notable is the Old City, which is a medieval settlement that has architecture and cobbled streets that remind one of Prague, Budapest, Vienna and other capital cities in Central European countries. Zagreb is getting increasingly popular and is filled with attractions for tourists. The city was visited by thousands of tourists from Germany, Austria and Italy.

The Lower and Upper Towns
Gornji grad, the Upper Town, and Donji Grad, the Lower Town are what you can call the heart of Zagreb, Croatia. The location is home to the main business areas as well as a number of religious centers. The Upper Town is where the medieval core of the city is situated and is divided into two main towns, Gradec and Kaptol. These towns were divided and were often warring with each other in olden times. Gradec was a free town as decleared by King Bela of Hungary populated by mainly tradesmen and artisans. Kaptol is where the Cathedral, and the seat of the bishop, is located. Gradec was merged to form the northern portion of the historic Zagreb region.
Strossmayer šetalište
In the summer, the Strossmayer šetalište is an open air theater that has performances and live shows from musicians and artists. Drinks and food are also available here. The view of the Lower town is wonderful.
Parks
Zagreb Zoo and Maksimir Park
Maksimir Park is the biggest in Zagreb, and is a great location to relax and take long walks by the small lakes or through the forest area. The park is a great option if you want to have a picnic and is an excellent location for joggers and cyclists as well. The park allows both dogs and children. It is also possible to row in the boats here. The zoo here is eighty years old, and houses red pandas as a highlight.
Make sure you plan a visit to the other parks in Zagreb that are worth visiting, such as the Zrinjevac park, Square of Marsal Tito, Mazuranic Square, Botanical Gardens, King Tomislav Square and more. The medieval buildings and the Cathedrals are the highlight of Zagreb. If you are a medieval art lovers, there is no place to visit, but Zagreb.
